3/29/2019 0 Comments Create a Playlist for your StoryHave you ever considered that stories can have playlists?
Maybe you have been reading a book and a particular song pops into your head, or you relate the lyrics of a certain song to a novel that you just read. This type of artistic fusion helps us to contemplate the essence of the story, as well as see it in a different light. I am proposing that you create a playlist for your current story. It doesn't have to be long. Even five songs that encapsulate your story's message, themes, or characters can be quite a fun and rewarding exercise. If one of your characters is highly punk or rock, for example, consider adding a song that encompasses that particular character's emotions. If the message of your story is "the searching underdogs," then consider adding that P!NK song "What About Us" to the mix. There are many different ways to approach this exercise! You can reread your writing and simply think of songs. Another route would be choosing popular songs from the radio and Googling their lyrics to see if they relate to your story. You can also make the playlist correspond to different chapters chronologically, or just create a playlist that embodies your story as a whole. I recommend using Spotify to search for songs and then create your playlist. Spotify also allows you to share your playlist with others! If you do complete this exercise, I would love to see your playlist and/or story! Just E-mail me at [email protected] Thanks & Happy Creating! Chels
